A trademark is a sign that distinguishes the goods and services of one trader from those of others, in order to protect the company’s good will and profits. |

Typically a trademark can be words (including personal names), indications, designs, letters, characters, numerals, figurative elements, colors, sounds, smells, the shape of the goods or their packaging or any combination of these. |

A sign must be capable of being represented graphically in order for it to be registered as a trademark. |
|
|
In order to increase the chance of successful, clients may try to provide a self-made design with meaningless wordings, unique and creativity. |

| Procedure of Trademark Registration in Hong Kong | |

| 1. | Client fill in the application form and sends to us. |
| 2. | We will contact the client in order to confirm all required information has been provided. |
| 3. | Client pays the service fee (please refer to Payment Method). |
| 4. | We will conduct the search to confirm if the proposed trademark is available for registration. |
| 5. | If it is available, we will commence the process of application. If it is not available, we will suggest the client to revise the trademark and conduct a search again (the search fee is borne by the client); if the client decides to discontinue the application, we will refund the fee after deducted handling charge of HK$ 1,000 and government fees paid. |
| 6. | We will submit the required documents and fees to the Intellectual Property Department for application. |
| 7. | A Certificate of Trademark Registration will be issued within 6 months. The valid period for the registration is 10 years, which could be renewed upon expiry. |
